Lara Engelking, Founder of Engelking Law Group LLC, is a nurse attorney with 25 years of experience and expertise devoted to the defense of Indiana healthcare providers in professional liability litigation.

While in private practice defending healthcare providers, Engelking also served for 15 years as the Director of Healthcare Litigation for an Indiana Risk Retention Group where she managed all professional liability litigation for nursing home and physician insureds. In recent years, based on her expertise in matters associated with the Indiana Patient’s Compensation Fund, Engelking was invited to speak on behalf of Indiana Healthcare providers before the Indiana Senate Committee concerning proposed changes to the Indiana Medical Malpractice Act.

Engelking is a graduate of Indiana University Law School. She is also a registered nurse, graduate of Indiana University School of Nursing with Highest Distinction, and is a frequent lecturer, speaking both locally and nationally on topics related to Professional Liability, Licensure Defense of Healthcare Providers, Tort Reform and the Indiana Medical Malpractice Act. Engelking received the Jackie Dwyer Gowan Award for Excellence from Indiana University. She is also active with the American Association of Nurse Attorneys (TAANA) where she previously served as Treasurer of the National TAANA organization for three years.
